From Theatre to Talent Strategy: My Journey

My professional journey began in the world of performance. After training as an actor at Bournemouth Arts University and moving to London to perform in off-West End productions, I quickly discovered the challenges of sustaining a creative career. To make ends meet, I began working in hospitality—and unexpectedly, I found joy. Hospitality awakened my passion for people, and I realised that my skills in performance, communication, and emotional intelligence could be used to drive real change in the world of work.

That passion led me to pursue my CIPD qualifications and make the transition into Human Resources. From the beginning, I was incredibly fortunate to be mentored by talented HR professionals who gave me early exposure to the full spectrum of HR: building and executing strategy, organisation design, performance management, TUPE, mergers and acquisitions, reward and recognition. I took to it like a duck to water. Their belief in me, coupled with my natural curiosity and drive, propelled my growth.

My love of people continued to evolve, and I gained accreditations in psychometric tools including DISC and Lumina Spark. I find human behaviour endlessly fascinating and thrive on being able to influence both personal and professional development.

Why I Founded Inicio HR

In 2023, I took a leap of faith and founded Inicio HR—’Inicio’ meaning to inspire in Latin. I knew that if it didn’t work out, I could return to employment. But from the very first day, the momentum didn’t stop. Clients came through referrals, the work aligned with my passion, and I haven’t looked back.

I wanted to offer more—more impact, more reach, and more meaningful support to organisations through their greatest asset: their people. While I loved my previous role and remained close with my former employer (even continuing to support them after leaving), I knew it was time. I had built a high-performing team and strong succession plan; staying would have only stifled their growth. Stepping aside empowered them to shine—and gave me the freedom to serve others.

What I Stand For

  • Integrity. Always. I operate with honesty and transparency at all times.
  • The Human in HR. HR isn’t just policy and process—it’s about people. Complex, emotional, unique individuals who deserve empathy and fairness.
  • Balanced Decision-Making. I apply a commercial, legal, and moral lens to every decision. It’s not just about what’s compliant or cost-effective—it’s also about what’s right.
  • Empowerment and Accountability. I believe in helping others grow, lead, and thrive—with clarity, purpose, and discipline.
  • No Ego, Just Impact. I know my strengths, and I’m confident in what I bring to the table. I also know when to collaborate, delegate, or challenge constructively.

The Challenges That Shaped Me

  • Wearing All the Hats. As a business owner, you’re never off the clock. I treat every client like their business is my own—and that comes with emotional investment.
  • Working with Smaller Budgets. Having worked in well-funded corporates, I had to adapt quickly to helping SMEs get impactful results with lean resources.
  • Standing Out in a Crowded Market. There are many HR consultants out there. I strive to be the go-to by building genuine relationships, showing up consistently, and delivering quality, every single time.

Why Trust Me?

Because I’m not here to tick boxes. I’m here to protect your business and your people. I bring empathy, but I also bring commercial savvy. I understand risk—but I’m not afraid to take calculated ones if it means moving your organisation forward.

I go above and beyond because your success matters to me. I don’t do this just for a living—I do it because I care. The relationships I build, the growth I witness, the trust I earn—that’s what drives me.
